The University of Miami

The University of Miami also known as Miami of Florida, two UM, 3 or just The U 4 5) is a private university in Coral Gables, Florida (United States). It is one of the most exclusive private universities in the United States. It is secular, and they found it in 1925.
The university has 15,657 students enrolled in approximately 115 undergraduate programs and 165 graduate programs(114 master's and 51 doctoral degrees). The students come from the 50 states of the United States and 148 foreign countries. It has 3027 full-time teachers, including Guggenheim, Fulbright and National Science Foundation scholars. 97% of PhD students and other postgraduate students achieve their degree. With over 10,800 full-time or part-time employees, the UM is the second largest private employer in Miami-Dade County.

The University of Miami is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and 23 other educational accreditation agencies. The UM is a member of the American Association of University Women, the American Council on Education, the American Council of Learned Societies, the Association of American College, the Florida Association of Colleges and Universities and the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.

Student life:

The University has 31 fraternities and sororities, of which five have their own residences.
It titles the annual catalogue "Ibis", the television network of the university "UMTV", the radio station "WVUM", the newspaper "The Miami Hurricanes" and the magazine "Distraction".

Sports 

The teams of the university, called Hurricanes, compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference of Division I of the NCAA.

Financing

"Momentum: the campaign for the University of Miami" was an effort launched in 2003 with the goal of raising billions of dollars in donations to improve facilities, recruit highly qualified teachers and a high value for faculties, and to expand the number of scholarships available to students. At the end of the campaign, the UM became the youngest university in the nation and the first in Florida to exceed one billion dollars in endowments, reaching 1400 million dollars in February 2008. Of the 56 universities that have launched campaigns of the collection of one billion dollars, the UM is the only private institution, and one of only four established in the twentieth century in reaching this milestone.

Collection of the Cuban Heritage

In the Roberto C. Goizueta room of the Otto G. Richter Library of the University of Miami, there is the Cuban Heritage Collection, which is the largest and most famous collection of historical, literary and cultural materials on an international level, outside of the island. It houses thousands of books, newspapers, historical and literary manuscripts, collections of personal and corporate papers, maps, posters, photographs and archival materials that recall the daily life of the Cuban and Cuban-American experience, from colonial times to the present. Many of the documents in the Collection date back over 400 years.

The University of Miami represents team The Miami Hurricanes football. The Hurricanes compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and in the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). They have trained the team since 2016 by Mark Richt. Since its inception in 1926, Miami has won five national titles, has had in its ranks two winners of the Heisman Trophy and holds the records for the largest number chosen in the first round of the NFL Draft in a single vintage and for selected players on the first lap in a row.

Miami Hurricanes (basketball)

Miami Hurricanes - basketball team representing the University of Miami in the first men's basketball division of the NCAA. In the suburb of Miami Coral gas Florida). The team is at the Atlantic Coast Conference. It holds home games at Bank United Center.
The men's basketball team at the university was founded in 1926, but from 1971 to 1985 the university not supported it. In 1985, Hurricanes resumed their participation in the student championship, in 1991 they joined the Big East conference, and in 2000, for the first time in their history, they won the regular championship. In 2004, it transferred all university sports programs to the Atlantic Coast Conference, and in 2013, the Hurricanes became the winners of the regular championship and the ACC conference tournament. During its history, the team went to the “Sweet 16” round of the NCAA tournament three times (1999/00, 2012/13 and 2015/16).
